Donor thank-you gifts show appreciation
For more than 80 years, Gulf Coast Humane Society opens in new window has provided compassionate care for vulnerable animals and inspired responsible pet ownership. Each year, the nonprofit no-kill shelter houses and cares for about 3,000 cats and dogs—many of which are saved from euthanasia, transported far beyond Texas and placed into loving homes.
Jackie McCollough, director of marketing and development, said that while caring for cats and dogs rescued from across five counties is a big part of the organization’s mission, there’s a lot more to it. “We offer a wide variety of services for people who are needing care for their pets,” she said. These resources include community clinics—which offer low-cost or free vaccinations, preventive care and basic treatments—spay and neuter vouchers, and a free pet food pantry. Gulf Coast Humane Society connects with the community through several experiences, including an all-ages Read & Rollover event; yoga; camps focused on compassion, empathy and respect for animals; and adoption meet and greets at local businesses.
A token of gratitude for vital support
Like many nonprofits, donor support is mission critical. The organization has a monthly giving program—Pawsitive Influencers—that is vital for sustainability. A one by one grant provided branded cooler totes opens in new window, which are among a collection of merch items the organization offers as donor thank-you gifts to those who sign up for its monthly giving program.
McCollough said the cooler totes were chosen for their practicality and the likelihood they’ll be seen throughout the community. “They’re a gift from us to show how much we’re grateful for their support. We wanted to offer people something they’re going to keep and really use,” she said. “I use a cooler tote. I keep it in my car, and I take it with me to the grocery store. Seeing our supporters engage with us and show how proud they are to support us is not only good for us as advertising, but it also helps our supporters remember that we’re here and we’re doing the work—and they’re helping us do it.”
A note from Cheryl
Gulf Coast Humane Society has a long history of not only helping cats and dogs find loving homes but also helping current pet owners learn how to provide the best care for their animals. We felt great pride in providing donor thank-you gifts to recognize those who help make this work possible.
