Fundraising incentives help send children with heart conditions to summer camp

Children’s Heart Foundation opens in new window is a nonprofit committed to making a difference in the lives of families impacted by children’s heart issues through emotional, educational and financial support. Based in Las Vegas, Children’s Heart Foundation serves families with children who are receiving or have received care from Children’s Heart Center Nevada. In 2024, the organization helped more than 125 households.

Children’s Heart Foundation has four primary goals: support pediatric cardiology research, help families dealing with the emotional and financial toll of a child with a heart condition, educate healthcare professionals and the public on pediatric cardiology issues, and provide a carefree camp experience for children with heart conditions.

Making special memories

Each year, Children’s Heart Foundation hosts a free, medically supervised summer camp—Camp Mend-a-Heart—for Nevada children, ages 7-17, with heart conditions. Camp Mend-a-Heart allows kids to be free from worry about their heart conditions while making memories that will last a lifetime. The 2025 group spent four days in June at Pathfinder Ranch in California, where they took part in arts and crafts, sports, water games and many other fun activities.

“We took 80 kids and their siblings this year,” said Jill Sarcletti, development manager. “One of the pediatric cardiologists is the medical director for the camp, so all the kids are cleared to participate. They got to experience ziplining, rock climbing, canoeing, archery, horseback riding and so much more. It’s just the best.”

Two annual fundraisers make this unique experience possible. One is the annual Hearts for ChariTea event held in September. The other is Walk with the Heart of a Child. Over 1,000 people participated and more than $100,000 was raised at the 22nd annual walk event in March.

Fundraising incentives pump up support

During 2025’s Walk with the Heart of a Child, Children’s Heart Foundation offered fundraising incentives to boost support. For donations of a certain size, participants earned promotional products for their generosity. A one by one grant provided two of the gifts—Crossland® coolers opens in new window for those who donated $250 and refrigerated hand fans opens in new window for contributors who raised $500. Sarcletti chose these items for their functionality. Given Las Vegas temperatures routinely hit triple digits, coolers and hand fans made the perfect products for the event.

A note from Cheryl

Children’s Heart Foundation does important work to help families dealing with stressful and, at times, heartbreaking circumstances. We were humbled to support the mission by providing promotional products that were used as fundraising incentives.
