San Francisco Sailing Science Center, Recipient

Smooth sailing with portable custom event banners Sailing is a key part of San Francisco’s culture and history. So when a group of sailors came together to educate people on science and sailing, the result was the Sailing Science Center. President and Founder Jim Hancock and his team have been dreaming of building a museum that inspires sailing and science through discovery and play while building awareness of ocean health. They’re using custom event banners to help tell the story. Inspiring with experiential science In May 2019, the first interactive science museum oriented to sailing was born in the bay of San Francisco. The organization’s plan is to build 200-300 exhibits organized into seven galleries, easily remembered by the seven seas. The first exhibit is complete and has already welcomed science and sailing fans. The museum is designed to engage with all ages through experiences and fun activities, helping prove almost every aspect of science can be taught through sailing. This innovative project is still in its growth phase. To thank partners and make potential investors aware of the project, Hancock and his team organized a fundraising gala featuring custom event banners. When side-by-side, the three Economy Retractor Banner Displays represent a flowing wave. The banners were made possible by a 4imprint® one by one® grant. Portable branding helps spread the word What’s more about the banners is that they are easy to transport. The custom event banners help raise awareness at all types of functions they attend: boat shows, street fairs and schools. “All the museum’s exhibits are transportable in order to take them to schools or around the country. We needed to have branding that could travel with them. In a matter of minutes, we can set up our branding and message to people.” Hancock said.
